Artist’s Showcase of Atlanta Kids/Teens Writing Submissions

The Artist’s Showcase of Atlanta Kids/Teens is looking for writers for its upcoming showcase. Our adult showcase last year was a huge success with actors receiving agent
representation and other job offers. This showcase will consist of actors, ages 7 to 17, performing original scenes for some of the top agents, casting directors, producers, theatre directors, and other industry professionals.

We are looking for original scenes with a minimum of two actors and a maximum of 6 actors, mostly comedic. These scenes need to run 4-10 min. in length. This showcase will contain some singing; so if you have scenes that contain music, even group numbers, submit those as well. Your submission must be received by March 12, 2010.

If you’re interested in submitting your work(s), send an email to Shontelle Thrash at artistsshowcase@live.com to request a release form.

This form must accompany your work(s). You can use one form for all of your submissions. This gives us “non-exclusive” rights to use it for the purposes of the showcase. If someone sees the showcase and wants your scene; then by all means, get it to them. You retain full rights to your work. It also ensures that your work is original. Look over the two-page release form and let me know if you have any questions.

If your work is selected, you will be notified via email.

Actor Needed For Gender Study

Thanks for calling me back on my request and submitting this to all actors at GSU!! What I am searching for is an actor that could come into a classroom and spew out violent language towards me in front of my graduate colleagues in the Fine Arts Department for 3-5 minutes in duration.

I am an artist working in performance art. My plan is to create an environment where initially I would read spoken word poetry regarding the subject of gender violence for a time period of 10 minutes. I
then would like to hire an actor come into the classroom and hurl violent language at me for a time period of 3- 5

minutes with my classmates not knowing about the setup. My goal is to reverse the roles of spectator regarding a very serious matter in our society. After this emotive act is done, I will say no, and then have the 8 students write a sequence of emotive word responses.

I know it may sound corny - but it is art right. I am looking for someone who can shed 10 minutes of
their time to perform this for my class on Monday the 15th of February at 11:15. It won't take long and I
will pay a Starbucks gift certificate worth 15 bucks. What I need from you is a dedication to act out a
violent action for 5 minutes. This actor can be either male or female. The subject is Gender Violence which meaning is violence to both men and women in our system. I would be so grateful for your help with this project.

Adult Male Actor Needed - Small Stipend!

I am looking for a young teen/adult male actor for the part of Eshu, a boyish trickster spirit in a Yoruban folk tale. The tale is African, but the actor can be any ethnicity. The part is for Atlanta Theatre-to-go. It will not have a traditional theatre run, but rather will be booked from time to time throughout the year in retirement homes, etc. according to actors' availability. Small stipend; rehearsals start mid-Feb.

Theatre Students Wanted for Hire for Upcoming Show

My name is Janea Rowe and I am the Marketing Coordinator for Lang Holdings in Delafield, WI. My company is exhibiting at the Atlanta Gift Show in January and is looking potentially to hire a few of your students to assist us at the show. The next General Meeting of the Players will be on Tuesday October 20th 12:15- 1pm. The Meeting will be held at Alumni Hall, more information to follow.

We have a T-shirt contest that we've extended the deadline to October 22nd for the design. Please submit your design to the Players' Office during office hours. You're welcome to stick the designs in Patrick or Bailey's mailbox. The winning design will be picked and announced for the Players' shirts after the deadline ends.

The auditions for the Student Dramatist Showcase will be on October 22nd from 6pm - 9pm in classroom 110, in Alumni Hall, across from the Players' Office. The Student Showcase is written, directed, and starring students. Please prepare a one minute monologue. There will also be cold readings provided.
